February 8 - Another Day of Experimentation at "It's all about Art" at Manchester

Similar to last July's event (see below) there were options of attending workshops and demonstrations by well known artists. Each was a 45 minute session with all materials supplied and the pictures we attempted are shown below. At both demonstrations and workshops plenty of hints were given and the opportunity to try activities that we had only read about enabled us to decide whether we liked them or not.

Needless to say, another fantastic day out.
Serena's pictures above
Pastel Scene (left) and Pastel Cat (centre) were with the same artist.
The watercolour pictures (right) were with different artists

July 28 - A Day of Experimentation at "It's all about Art" at Manchester

There were options of attending 8 workshops and 3 demonstrations by well known artists. Each was a 45 minute session with all materials supplied and the pictures we attempted are shown below. At both demonstrations and workshops plenty of hints were given and the opportunity to try activities that we had only read about enabled us to decide whether we liked them or not.

Needless to say, a fantastic day out.

For our first ever soft pastel drawings we tried pastel workshops with different tutors. Serena's (left) was a more conventional style produced on paper. The cat portrait (right) done by Neil was on a velour based material producing a particularly pleasing portrait.

Neil took the opportunity to try acryllic paints. The picture we followed was a "Hockley" style landscape - not my choice but it provided an opportunity to try out the materials.

Watch this space for more acryllic paintings!!

Our flower paintings used "Artbars" - a waterbased oil type of crayon. Serena's picture on the left, Neils' on the right.

Neither of us liked this technique.
